Voting rights

Foreigners have no right to participate in public administration directly through elements of the so-called direct democracy such as the referendum and direct election of the Slovak President. By law, foreigners may only vote and stand for elections in Bodies of Self-Governning Regions and elections to Municipal Self-Governing Authorities. Foreigners may also vote in elections to the European Parliament if they are EU nationals and have permanent residence in Slovakia. Below we provide information relevant for foreigners.
